Remote Access to Computers

In some situations, faculty may request students have remote access to computers with specialized software or capabilities. This allows users to access these computers using only their browser and will allow access to far more powerful computing resources, or to restricted licensing that students would otherwise not have access to.

Students with approved access can go to https://remote.earlham.edu and can log in with their Earlham username and password.

In order to connect to a computer, click the plus sign next to the group of computers you are attempting to access. Faculty may have assigned each student a computer to prevent multiple users from accessing the same computer simultaneously. If you were not assigned a computer, make sure that you select a computer that is not currently in use. The image below shows how a computer appears when it is already in use. Computers already in use will also alert the user logging in with the name of the currently connected user and give the option to disconnect them or cancel.

Once a computer is selected, the user will see the standard Windows computer login screen with the username already filled in. Enter your Earlham password and hit enter.

Once finished using a computer, it is important that users "sign out" of the computer to leave it available for the next user.

If you need to access the Guacamole menu, press Ctrl+Alt+Shift, or for a mobile device swipe from the left edge of the screen.
