PaperCut Upgrade scheduled for Sunday, August 5, 2018: 8:00PM - 11:59PM

Affected Services:PaperCut software that supports Web Print and some features for multi-function printers on-campus.
Reason:Required security and software upgrades for the PaperCut environment.
Description:

This maintenance will upgrade the PaperCut software to the current version to support various printing functionality for the new academic year.

Note: Some multi-function printers may require a restart on Monday, August 6 as a result of the upgrade.  ITS staff will monitor and restart printing equipment as necessary.



Wireless Network ClearPass Maintenance scheduled for Friday, August 31, 2018: 5:00AM - 6:30AM
Service Affecting:<Yes> - The Earlham College Wireless networks ECOpen and ECSecure will be briefly unavailable.
Affected Services:Aruba ClearPass environment that supports the wireless network.
Reason:Required upgrade for the Aruba ClearPass Wireless access management system.
Description:

ITS staff will be upgrading the Aruba ClearPass Wireless access management system to the latest version. 
This software supports authentication to the Earlham College wireless networks. 
The upgrade will be completed in the early morning hours due to lower network utilization.

Note: This upgrade will not impact the college phone system or physical wired network (devices plugged into the network using a cable).

Description:

This maintenance will occur after Campus Store hours and has been approved by the Campus Store team.



Banner StudentSelfService 9.x Maintenance scheduled for Friday, September 28, 2018: 8:00PM - 10:00PM
Service Affecting:<Yes> - The Banner StudentSelfService 9.x module will be briefly unavailable for a restart.
Affected Services:

Banner StudentSelfService 9.x

Banner Extensibility 9.x

Reason:Required restarts to fix outstanding issues.
Description:

This maintenance will occur during the normal ITS maintenance window of Friday night 8pm - 11:59pm.





CBORD CSGold Database Patching RESCHEDULED for Friday, September 28, 2018: 8:00PM - 10:00PM
Service Affecting:<Yes> - The CBORD CSGold Database will be offline for patching.
Affected Services:

CBORD CSGold including card access systems.

Note: Door and card swipes locally cache information and will work normally during the maintenance.

Reason:Required patching and software updates.
Description:

This maintenance will occur during the normal ITS maintenance window of Friday night 8pm - 11:59pm.

Wireless Network ClearPass Maintenance scheduled for Thursday, October 4, 2018: 3:30AM - 5:30AM
Service Affecting:<Yes> - The Earlham College Wireless networks ECOpen and ECSecure will be briefly unavailable.
Affected Services:Aruba ClearPass environment that supports the wireless network.
Reason:Required upgrade and reboot for the Aruba ClearPass Wireless access management system.
Description:

ITS staff will be upgrading the Aruba ClearPass Wireless access management system to the latest version. 
This software supports authentication to the Earlham College wireless networks. 
The upgrade will be completed in the early morning hours due to lower network utilization.  
The upgrade is also being completed before Family Weekend.

Note: This upgrade will not impact the college phone system or physical wired network (devices plugged into the network using a cable).



WTS (Package Delivery Tracking) upgrade RESCHEDULED for Tuesday, October 9, 2018: After 7:00pm
Service Affecting:<Yes> - It is anticipated that the WTS system will offline during the upgrade.
Affected Services:

WTS (Package Delivery Tracking) system used by the Post Office and Receiving departments.

Note: This system is cloud-hosted and upgrades are scheduled by the vendor.

Reason:Required patching and software updates.

Zimbra and Z-light Email Maintenance scheduled for Friday, November 16, 2018: 8:00PM - Midnight
Service Affecting:<Yes> - Zimbra and Z-light email systems will be briefly unavailable during this window.
Affected Services:

Zimbra and Z-light email systems.

Reason:Required security and operating system patches for the college email systems.
Description:

ITS staff will be applying required security and operating system patches to the Zimbra and Z-light email systems during the normal ITS maintenance window.

There will be brief service interruptions while the patches are applied and the systems are restarted.

Email received during the maintenance will be queued and automatically delivered when the maintenance has been completed.




ILLiad Interlibrary Loan Software Upgrade RESCHEDULED for: November 19, 2018: 10:00AM
Service Affecting:<Yes> - The ILLiad system will be unavailable while the server and desktop components are upgraded by IT and Library staff.
Affected Services:

ILLiad Interlibrary Loan software used to support library services.

Reason:Required software upgrade.
Description:

This upgrade date/time has been approved by the Library staff as an acceptable window prior to Early Fall Break.



VMWare Maintenance scheduled for Monday, November 19, 2018 - Tuesday, November 20, 2018
Service Affecting:<No> - The VMWare environment supports redundancy that should result in no planned down-time. This maintenance notification is informational.
Affected Services:VMWare environment that supports virtualized servers and infrastructure for the college's enterprise systems.
Reason:Required security and software patches for the VMWare environment.
Description:

This maintenance will occur during they day on Monday and Tuesday but no down-time is expected.



Banner and Related Services Maintenance scheduled for Friday, November, 23, 2018, 7:00AM - Sunday, November 25, 2018, 7:00AM
Service Affecting:<Yes> - Banner and related services will be impacted.
Affected Services:Banner, Mobile App, DegreeWorks, The Heart (Luminis), Banner Reporting (Argos, Brio, Self-Service)
Reason:

Required security and operating system patches for the college's enterprise systems.
Required Banner releases and regulatory updates to stay current with the Banner enterprise student information system.

Description:

Services unavailable:

  • The Heart (including single sign-on to Moodle, Qualtrics)
  • Banner INB/Admin Pages, Self-Service
  • Mobile App
  • DegreeWorks
  • Banner Reporting (including Argos, Brio, Self-Service)
  • CSGold Card Access


ITS staff will be applying required security and operating system patches to the college's enterprise systems during this window.
ITS staff will also be installing required Banner releases and regulatory updates to stay current with the Banner enterprise student information system.


This schedule was approved in consultation with the departments on campus that primarily use Banner and the related services.
Testing and review sessions have been in progress with these departments to validate the planned installations and upgrades.

ITS and the Lilly Library staff are collaborating on required patches and maintenance for the Moodle Learning Management System.
